Different products
MEE6 is the best-known Discord bot there is, and it is an engagement platform: levelling, welcome cards, reaction roles, music, moderation commands, and a large automod. ScoutBot does one security job — catching accounts impersonating your moderators — and a handful of supporting features around it. If you are choosing between them on features alone, MEE6 has vastly more of them.
Where ScoutBot is different
- Avatar image matching. ScoutBot compares profile pictures as images, so a re-uploaded or lightly edited copy of a moderator’s avatar still matches. Name filters do not catch that.
- Safe roles instead of a list. Mark your moderator role as protected and every member holding it is covered automatically — and stays covered when your team changes. There is no list to keep current.
- Fuzzy name matching. A swapped character, an added space or a lookalike letter still matches, at a sensitivity you set.
Price
MEE6’s paid tier is $11.95/mo. ScoutBot Pro is $49/mo or $490/yr. ScoutBot is the more expensive product and it is worth being direct about why: it is not trying to replace a general-purpose bot, so the comparison that matters is against what a successful impersonation costs your community, not against MEE6’s feature count.
Both bill per server. Worth knowing if you run several: this is the ecosystem norm rather than a quirk of either product, and it is why people running multiple communities report large monthly totals on MEE6 alone.
Use both
This is the honest recommendation for most servers. They do not overlap much, they do not conflict, and ScoutBot’s free tier — impersonation alerts for up to three protected names, plus audit logging and scheduled messages — costs nothing to run alongside whatever you already have.
